The system is designed for assignments to be filtered by Due Date, so this request is currently not possible.
I understand it may seem like Aeries is preventing you from doing your job in the most efficient way you desire, but we would actually love to hear from you on why you prefer your assignments sorted by assignment number instead of due date when doing data entry. It's a feature we are continually evaluating for validity. Previous requests for this feature have led us to add the "Assignment Search" feature to easily look up assignments and navigate to Scores By Assignment for the selected assignment.
If you have the time, could you please provide some specifics about your grading situation and the reason why sorting by assignment number is desirable?
Thank you,
Aeries Development Team

Sometimes I like to use date due as the actual date collected so that I can easily see who was absent/tardy that day. It helps me keep track of why students didn't hand something in. The work may have been a class activity from earlier and I simply choose to have students hand it in after the fact. In that case I list the date it was done as the date assigned and then use due date as collected date. That would then affect the actual chronology of assignments, because Aeries would put this assignment at a later date when really the activity was completed in class earlier in the timeline.
I would like to be able to go back in and change an assignment number (not date) as an override of the automatic due date ordering. And then actually have it renumber every assignment after that one so that the same order is maintaining after the insertion/move.

In my classes, we do long term projects, and the due date is a flexible aspect of the task, leaving room for students of differing abilities to work in a fashion that meets their needs. I prefer that the assignments are aligned by project number, as when entering grades I want to see how a student is progressing and I wish to enter grades in the most efficient manner possible. For me, efficiency means grades that are in sequential order. Having the tasks mixed up because of the due date means that I have to hunt back and forth in my grading screen for the assignments, while on my grading sheet they are in order. I am usually multi-tasking while managing students and having a grading program that makes the entry process more time consuming and difficult is not a good thing.
Numerical ordering was part of the last grading system, and it was efficient. Why can we not order them numerically, if that is the more efficient method for us?
