Hello,
There are actually several reports that you can send directly to parents as an email. That way, you are not required to use Parent Square or the Portal Access. See this link: Quick Start to Gradebook Reports Note, you can use reports for positive purposes, too! The Options page has parameters that you can use to send these out.
